The Green Umbrella
Mission of The Green Umbrella
The Green Umbrella provides concise facts, news, and anecdotes of the grassroots freecycling world.
We measure the excellence of our success by the increased media coverage of 5 Star Networks.
For this reason, our focus populations are members of the media, and network administrators.
TGU 5 Point Rating System
The 5 Star Networks featured in our pages foster groups which:
are active
are family friendly
are local and community based
allow no cash or barter in group posts
offer only items which are legal in that locality.
TGU lists only non-commercial Network sites * TGU gives preference to ad-free and "finder" free Networks.
TGU runs no ads and does not accept cash donations. Our staff is
entirely volunteer.

 | SharingIsGiving .org "If you also like the
concept of freecycling with others without all of the rules and politics, this is the place to do it. Everyone is welcome to put a link to their site
here, free. All we ask for is a reciprocal (Live) link on your home/front page. This gives us all more exposure to the web crawlers and potential
new members."

 | FreeSharing.org "The sites featured on
FreeSharing.org are all locally owned, grassroots groups, working to help their neighbors and the environment by keeping usable items out of the
landfill by passing them along to people who can use them.
"The Directory has links to over 825 locally managed groups serving over 350,000 members in the USA, Canada and around the world."

 | ReUseIt Network "The ReUseIt Network
is an on-line forum that serves as a tool to make connections between community members who want to help each other, themselves,
and their environment. In a disposable society where many items are discarded long before they have actually outlived their use,
The ReUseIt Network helps get things from people who have them but don't want them to people who want them but don't have them."

 | FullCircles.org "Full Circles is a Canadian
group that is designed around the circle of life, going from undeveloped simple living to the full benefits of our technological society and back
to a simpler way of life, with our society going full circle." Canadian | info@fullcircles.org |
 | Around Again Groups " A collection
of locally based internet "Free Sharing" communities. The main purpose of the groups is to allow members to find people who can use items they
no longer need or want. Through offering these items for free they are often saved from going into the local waste collection, as well as
helping others to acquire things they may need or want." Regional, Connecticut and New York. |
